Meet our dog:
Tilia

Description
Tilia came to us from our partner shelter @apa.torresvedras — a delicate, young Podengo mix girl who is just beginning to sort out the world around her. So much is still new: some things are fascinating, others a little overwhelming. Her gaze is cautious and searching, yet full of expression — a look that truly stays with you.
Because behind that initial reserve, there is clearly a typical Podengo spark: curious, alert, and full of charm. Since arriving at our farm, Tilia has been showing more of herself step by step. When she feels safe, she becomes playful, cheerful, and lively, and suddenly a little rascal appears. At the same time, she is very cuddly and seeks closeness once trust has been built. Tilia wants to belong — at her own pace, but with her whole heart.
In a new home, she will need time to settle in. At first, one should expect a rather shy, reserved young dog who needs sensitive guidance. Those who give her this space and do not push her will quickly discover what lies beneath: a young, active, curious Podengo girl with courage, joy for life, and a strong personality.
With other dogs, Tilia is social and communicates well. She knows cats and approaches them with some caution. She does well with children when they interact with her calmly and respectfully. In the house, she is curious but settles well and appears overall balanced. She occasionally needs gentle guidance, without being demanding or hectic.
As is typical for the breed, as Tilia’s confidence grows, a certain hunting drive will very likely emerge — something her future people should be aware of and be ready to guide and manage accordingly.

Desired environment
For Tilia, we are looking for a calm, structured home with people who are willing to give her time and appreciate her gentle nature. People who can guide her safely through new situations without putting pressure on her, and who enjoy accompanying a young Podengo as she settles in and grows. A confident resident dog could help her, but is not a requirement. What truly matters are patience, empathy, and the willingness to look beyond her initial hesitation—because beneath it is a cheerful, brave little dog who is ready to show herself.
