VOLUNTEERS

ANIMAL WELFARE MAKES YOUR HEART BEAT FASTER? WELCOME TO JOIN US!

Whether you only have a few hours a week or would like to support us intensively for several weeks. Whether from home or on site, we are grateful for any help and will find the right project for you, where you can be of great help to us and our animals.

Do you already have experience with animal welfare dogs, are you a dog trainer and would like to help us look after our adopters?

Do you like making phone calls, organizing, writing texts or do you love social media? Our back office always needs support. There are many ways to help us, so let's talk!

Support us on site: Our private animal and nature conservation farm in Sintra, Portugal, is a very labor-intensive project. Our days start at sunrise and end at sunset. Do you have a few weeks to spare? Are you looking for an internship for your dog trainer training? If working with animals makes you happy and you are not afraid of physical work, contact us.

We are still working on accommodation for our volunteers on our farm, but if you are interested we can help you find a place to stay on site.

Just send us a message, we look forward to your support!

CARE FACILITY

SUPPORT OUR FURRY FRIENDS ON THEIR FIRST STEP INTO A NEW LIFE.

As with any small animal welfare organization, foster homes are a very important building block for happy adoptions.

Support us as a foster home and help our animals take their first steps into a new life. Your support offers them not only temporary security, but also the chance to gain confidence and prepare for a permanent home.

It also enables potential adopters who are reluctant to adopt directly from abroad to get to know our dogs first and feel more confident about adopting them.

WHAT DOES A FOSTER HOME DO?

Everything a responsible pet owner would do!

The foster home is responsible for feeding and care, exercise, socialization and administering medication (if necessary). We ask foster parents to give us an honest assessment of their foster pet's behavior and personality and to help with basic training if needed and under supervision. Foster homes also play an active role in adoptions. Please feel free to let us know anything you think we should know about your foster pet.

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE FOR MY FOSTER DOG TO BE PLACED?

This is a difficult question to answer, as some foster dogs are adopted very quickly, while others take a while for their future family to take notice.

As a rule, you can expect a foster period of 2-6 weeks, but it can take longer. We ask foster homes to hold their foster animal until it is adopted, as it is stressful for a dog to move from one home to another.

WHAT HAPPENS IF MY PROTÉGÉ IS ADOPTED?

This is probably the most beautiful and saddest moment as a foster home, because now it's time to say goodbye. The certainty that your protégé will now start his new life and find his beloved place in a family is incredibly beautiful and also thanks to you. Thank you so much!

Oh yes, we know how hard it is to see a dog that has lived with us go, but without your important help we would not be able to continue our mimo.dogs project. Knowing that you have made such a big contribution to a dog's new happy life hopefully makes you as happy as it makes us.

CAN I ADOPT MY FOSTER DOG MYSELF?

We are always very happy when this happens!
Please talk to us and we will initiate the adoption process.

FOSTER TO ADOPT

FOSTER HOME WITH ADOPTION OPTION

Adopting a dog directly from Portugal without getting to know it first is sometimes out of the question for various reasons. With this option, we give you the opportunity to get to know one of our dogs in peace.

During the agreed foster-to-adopt phase, we pause the active search for adopters and give you time to find each other without pressure.

To qualify for a Foster-To-Adopt position, we go through almost the entire adoption process with you, so that if you decide wholeheartedly to adopt, there are only a few formalities to complete.

If something speaks against the adoption, you simply remain a foster home for your fosterling and we resume the search for an adopter.
